The Real Story

The Real Story: From Risk to Resilience is a series of articles about flood-related issues that have been gathered from across Yorkshire. Addressing property flood resilience, local flood risk, major flood defences in local areas and misconceptions about flooding, The Real Story offers a factual approach to each topic, as well as exploring the development process for local flood defences.

The Real Story discusses a range of flood risk management measures across Yorkshire, from large engineered defences protecting wide areas of Yorkshire within river catchment areas, to nature-based solutions at the community level. Whilst these defences provide a high level of flood protection, no single measure can be guaranteed to prevent flooding entirely. Personal protection still needs to be considered. Property flood resilience delivers a level of reassurance and helps to further reduce the risk of flood damage to your property. The Real Story will help you to see the bigger picture of flood risk management, from your property to your region.
